Tamamushi-nuri is a traditional lacquerware technique of Miyagi Prefecture, named for the jewel beetle (tamamushi) whose wings shimmer with green and gold iridescence. The technique layers colored lacquer with gold and silver foil, creating subtle gradations and a refined brilliance. This wine glass has been honored with the prestigious “Miyagi Prefecture Award.”
