Mirairinzou, the mascot of Tsukubamirai, is the son of a Eurasian skylark. Out of admiration for Tsukubamirai-born adventurer Mamiya Rinzo, he time-traveled from the future to present-day Tsukubamirai. Mirairinzou was the winner of a nationwide mascot contest held in celebration of Tsukubamirai's 10th anniversary. His chonmage is in the shape of the three-story pagoda found in the famous Buddhist temple in Tsukubamirai City, the Itabashi Fudoson Temple.
