Ducks do not frequent hot springs. So why did Ishikawa choose a duck as the mascot of its onsen village? It turns out that one of the main attractions is the close proximity of large paddlings of ducks in the surrounding lake. However, the most impressive feature of the village is the ability to enjoy the distant view of Mount Haku, one of Japan's three most sacred mountains, while relaxing in an onsen. It's no wonder Ishikawa Onsen Village has been a popular destination for hot spring enthusiasts for thousands of years.
