The art of Kutani-yaki can be traced back to the ancient Kutani kilns of the 17th century. The creation of Kutani ware still preserves the traditional craft of porcelain making, even though the kilns have evolved over many generations. The pair of sake cups in the picture is adorned with geometric floral patterns. The design employs a diagonal layout with asymmetrical pattern stacking and vibrant color combinations, showcasing a unique Japanese design aesthetic that differs from the more formal and symmetrical approach seen in Chinese porcelain. In addition, the bold and simple strokes evoke a lively and playful sensation.
