The Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles baseball team was founded in Miyagi Prefecture in 2004, with its home field at Miyagi Stadium in Sendai. Part of Rakuten Group—the same corporation that owns Taiwan’s Rakuten Monkeys—the team honors its fans through the symbolic number “10.” This number is permanently retired from play and instead designated as the “Fans’ Number,” representing supporters as the “tenth player” alongside the nine on the field. The team’s mascot, Clutch, also sports the number 10, underscoring the bond between team and fans.
