The super cute CHI-BA+KUN is the mascot of Japan's Chiba Prefecture. According to official statements, CHI-BA+KUN has a dog-like appearance, but it is actually a "mystery creature" residing in Chiba. It was birthed by renowned animator Chiharu Sakazaki, a resident of Chiba, in 2011. CHI-BA+KUN is shaped like the outline of the Chiba Prefecture and wears red fur, symbolizing the passion of Chiba. Its job is to represent Chiba in communicating with other cities and promoting tourism. Because of the close relationship between Taiwan and Japan, the red figure of CHI-BA+KUN can often be seen in events hosted in Taiwan.
