Traditional Craft – Samurai Helmet

In Japan’s mid-Heian period, feudal lords formed armed factions, and samurai wore armor to protect themselves. The armor consisted of three parts: the helmet, the chest plate, and large shoulder guards. This helmet was handcrafted by traditional artisan and Chiba Prefectural Assembly member Matsuzawa .
