Kaga yuzen and Kyo yuzen are the two most well-known in Japan. The features of Kaga yuzen are bright, vivid colors and natural patterns created through smudging. Kaga yuzen is applied to kimonos and used to dye handkerchiefs, scarves, and ties. The tie in the picture was died using Kaga yuzen. Today, this dying technique is recognized as a traditional craft in Japan.
