The portable Bluetooth speaker in the picture is printed with the Seal of Lomita City. Two key dates are inscribed on the seal: 1907 and 1964. In 1907, WI Hollingsworth procured a large tract of land, including the land on which Lomita is located today. The city has an area of roughly 4.9 square kilometers, which is a significant reduction from its original area of 18 square kilometers. The shrinkage is a result of the rapid expansion of neighboring cities. To prevent further shrinkage, Lomita officially declared itself a city in 1964.
