Kagawa hosts the Setouchi Triennale every three years. It is a massive art festival organized by seven outlying islands of Seto Island Sea. The goal of the event was to attract visitors and investors to the withering rural islands. The event is a successful example of reinvigorating declining rural economies through international and local co-creation. The signature artwork at the Setouchi Triennale is the Yellow Colored Pumpkin by Yayoi Kusama. Visitors cannot say they've been to the Seto Inland Sea without visiting the Yellow Colored Pumpkin. The throw pillow in the picture is a semblance of the Yellow Colored Pumpkin.
