In 2010, Narita City unveiled its mascot, Unari-kun, an eel-airplane hybrid character. Unari-kun represents Narita International Airport, the gateway to Japan, and the freshwater eels of Narita, particularly the eel products surrounding Naritasan Shinshoji Temple. Unari-kun even has its own YouTube channel.
