The two cities share a close and interactive relationship, with Taoyuan delegations having visited Long Beach several times to engage in in-depth exchanges on education, tourism, and industries. The two cities officially became sister cities in 2022, marking Taoyuan as Long Beach's first sister city in 15 years and the first-ever Taiwanese city to become sister cities with Long Beach.
