The carriage is a barrier-free environment and bike-friendly. The EMU900 is manufactured by the South Korean company Hyundai Rotem, whose headquarters are located in Uiwang, Gyeonggi Province. It began supplying Taiwan Railways with carriages in the 1990s. Hyundai Rotem’s products are also used by Taoyuan Metro and Kaohsiung Metro. Taiwan Railways commissioned the EMU900 series in April 2021.
