This fabric is a product of the royal brand Chitralada. Sirikit was the wife of former King Rama IX. During her tenure as queen, she was immensely concerned about Thai farmers. Sirikit used her foundation to set up Chitralda. The brand helped women start businesses in cotton weaving, silk weaving, traditional Thai embroidery, basket weaving, handmade artificial flowers, and lace crochet. Items sold under Chitralda were transferred into the villagers making the goods. The charity brand helped rural women earn additional income and spread and preserved traditional Thai crafts.
