Wood inlaying is a traditional woodworking technique that combines concave and convex wood pieces to create artwork. Processes include planing wood chips, shaping, and color-matching. Inlaying requires artisans to have a deep understanding and extensive experience in yosegi. Traditional Japanese wood inlays are not colored artificially. Instead, only the natural colors of wood are used. Over time, Japanese wood inlays become darker, adding an extra layer of appreciation to the work. This wood inlay commemorates the friendship between Taoyuan and Chiba.
