In recent years, Asian population growth in Texas has been among the highest in number and magnitude across all ethnicities, at approximately 620,000 in 10 years. This boom in the Asian population has also fueled Asian culture in Texas. The North Texas Collin County Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce was established in 1995. Currently, it accommodates over 100 members. The bronze pineapple in the picture was a gift by Fred Hwong, Chairman of the North Texas Collin County Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce. Pineapple in the Minnan dialect is a homophone to the Chinese phrase for ""prosperity."
